These gorgeous and super soft Pashmina shawls are hand woven using pure pashmina yarn and have a fabulous Zari border, making them a stand out accessory. They are sustainably sourced from artisans in Kashmir.
Pashmina, locally known as "Lena Cashmere", comes from a particular type of goat called Changra, that lives in the high altitude regions of Ladakh in northern India and in neighbouring Tibet, at a height of over 5000 metres. Nature has provided the goats with their thick undercoat to protect them from the extreme cold of winter. They are raised in herds by caring shepherds who comb the fleece out by hand in the spring. The heavy coarse outer hair is then separated from the fine soft Pashmina Cashmere undercoat.
The yarn is then partially hand spun, usually by the women. It is then hand woven on traditional looms, by highly skilled artisans. Usually men .
Exquisitely soft, light as a feather and snuggly warm, these shawls are to be treasured, but most definitely worn. Once you have experienced the difference in a "real" pashmina, you won't want to take it off.
Dry clean this gorgeous shawl to preserve its beauty. Store in bag when not in use and take moth prevention methods if necessary.
