These luxurious, eco friendly, Fair Trade and handcrafted Ethiopian throw blankets have a classic herringbone design. The weavers at Sabahar use a 4-harness loom to create the  herringbone pattern which also results in an extra  cosy, thick and heavy blanket. Using more sophisticated looms is new for many weavers and we are excited that they have perfected this beautiful design for the export market. The blankets are of a high international quality. The blankets are finished with  hand tied fringes.

"Mechot" means cozy or comfort in Amharic, the language most spoken in Ethiopia. The throw blankets are just that- mechot!
