Betsy - Mulberry Silk And Khadi Cotton Dupatta Shawl
75% Mulberry Silk 25% Khadi Cotton
Hand woven in India
These wonderful scarves come to us from a women's charitable trust in India. The charitable trust employs several hundred women spinners and weavers from rural communities. The women come from the lowest social and economic strata of India; from highly marginalised communities. This work provides their only source of income (which is fairly paid) along with training, regular work and safe working conditions. The trust provides free schooling and health care for the weavers and their families.
The scarves are hand woven in natural fibres - a beautiful hand spun Mulberry Silk is combined with a Khadi Cotton and then hand woven, to produce these fabulous and unique statement scarves. The purity of the fibres and amazing weaving techniques result in a durable and "stand out" accessory.
This scarf has wonderful texture from the fabulous weave. This is an all season scarf, cool in the summer yet cosy in the winter, and kind to skin. AZO free dyes have been used for this scarf. Each scarf bears the weaver's name
Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process. Eco friendly by virtue of the use of Khadi Cotton (hand spun) and being entirely hand woven, means that the production process is environmentally friendly and creates no toxic waste.
