These wonderful shawls come to us from a women's charitable trust in India which employs several hundred women spinners and weavers from rural communities, from the lowest social and economic strata of India - all highly marginalised communities. This work provides their only source of income (which is fairly paid) along with training, regular work and safe working conditions. The trust provides free schooling and health care for the weavers and their families.
Linen is not just a fabric for summer! Its natural properties make it cool in the summer, but it will retain heat in the cooler weather. The linen used in this shawl will soften with wear and drape even more beautifully. Each warp edge has tiny beading - such a beautiful and subtle addition.
Each shawl bears the weaver's name and all have been quarantined by us before dispatch to you.
These stunning shawls have a subtle shimmer. They are hand woven in a premium linen with a gold or silver sari thread.
65cm x 210cm Cool hand wash (do not soak) in non-biological liquid. Dry flat away from heat. Iron if necessary.
